Devotees throng Pashupati temple on first Monday of Shrawan

Kathmandu: Hindu devotees thronged the Pashupatinath Temple since dawn on Monday to observe the first Monday in the holy month of Shrawan in Nepali calendar.

As per the tradition, the entire month is considered to be the auspicious period to worship Lord Shiva with the belief that one's wishes will get fulfilled by worshipping Lord Shiva throughout the month especially on Mondays.

Thousands of devotees were seen queuing up to offer worships and prayers to Lord Shiva from 2 am although the three doors of the temple were open at around 3:15 am, said Director of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Bhola Sitaula. The PADT said that it has made special arrangement to facilitate the devotee visiting the temple for worship.

More than 35000 devotees worshipped at the temple until 8 am today, he added. Meanwhile, Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli worshipped at the temple. RSS
