In Kavre districts Banepa after 35 long years Nara Devi Swet Kali goddess dance has commenced. In every 12 years this dance is performed but lately due to financial problem it was delayed. Firstly, it is worship from Kathmandus Nara Devi, to different places of valley. Though, it used to celebrate in Banepa, however due to economic issue it was vanished.
According to religious books, this dance began from Malla dynasty reign and its economic operation was maintained by the court. In order to establish the religious affiliation between Banepa and Kathmandu, King Amar Dev started this Nara Devi dance. Nara Devi Swet goddesss daughter is Chandeshwori goddess, and it is a ritual to show in Banepa.
Its a tale that before Malla period, Banepa, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Kritipur was attacked by a demon and it is a religious faith that Naradevi Swet goddess protected these places. The auspicious sight of Naradevi Swet goddess and her dance will help to banish distress says Gyan Kaji Manandhar, a historian.
