Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhi Prashad Yadav has said that election of local body was possible to be held in the first week of Jestha, a Nepali month, if election related laws and provisions were given to the Election Commission within 15th of Magh, one of Nepali month.
At a time when the members of the government is reiterating that the election of local body is possible to held even in the month of Chaitra, expressing his opinion regarding the election of local body at the press conference organized at Reporters Club in the capital on Tuesday, the Chief Commissioner Yadav said," Some people are saying that the election of local body is possible in the month of Chaitra, some people say in Baishakh, and some have said to be held in the month of Jestha. This sort of saying from the concerned people has made the Commission surprised."
Responding to the queries raised by the journalists in the press conference, Yadav opined that election in the month of Chaitra was impossilbe in the presnet context. He added that election could not be making possible in the month of Chaitra in any circumstance. He also added that the commission was working under the previous laws and provisions.
Commissioner Dr Yadav also said that consultation with securities agencies were must so as to make the election of local body success. He also said the commission was ready on holding the elections of the House of Representatives if consensus among the political parties were made.
