Financial aid handed over for flood-survivors

Bhaktapur : The Subhanagar Development Society has handed over financial assistance amounting to Rs 30,000 to the Suryabinayak Municipality in Bhaktapur for the flood-victims. The amount will go to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.

The Society based in Balkot of Surnabinayak Municipality-2 gave away the cash to Suryabinayak Municipality Deputy Mayor Juna Basnet amid a programme held here today.

Speaking at the programme, parliamentarian Rameshower Dhungel, Deputy Mayor Basnet, Chancellor at the National Academy of Fine Arts Ragini Upadhyay among others stressed on extending humanitarian assistance cutting off frivolous spending by women folks on cosmetics and ornaments during the Teej festival.

Society's advisors Dharmendra Jha and journalist Gopal Khanal said that the financial assistance provided by the Society was an effort to help flood survivors assuage their pain during the time of adversity.

As the monsoon is in full swing, rain-triggered floods have been wrecking havoc in various parts of the country. Incidents of inundation have been reported in several places of Terai region of the country. RSS
