Govt-UDMF meeting begins at Baluwatar

Kathmandu- A meeting between the government and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has started at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar on Friday morning.

Chairman of Federal Socialist Forum- Nepal (FSF-N) Upendra Yadav is not present in the today's meeting. Senior leader Ashok Rai and Vice-chairman Rajendra Shrestha are representing the party in the meeting.

Technically speaking, only two parties-- Rastriya Janata Party and FSF-N are only present at the meeting. Six Madhes-based political parties representing UDMF announced unification yesterday to form Rastriya Janata Party

The leaders of the five fringe political parties had reached an agreement on unification Tuesday night. The new unified party is named Rastriya Janata Party and umbrella has been fixed as the election symbol.

Mahanta Thakur has been assigned at the Coordinator of the party. Leaders have agreed to lead the party in turns. Thakur, Rajendra Mahato, Mahendra Raya Yadav, Sharat Singh Bhandari and Raj Kishor Yadav will lead the party collectively through a group of chairmen. The leaders have agreed to hold the unity convention of the party within a year.
