Madhes-based parties positive on competing in polls

Kathmandu- Madhes-base parties have turned positive on participating in the local polls slated for May 14.

During a meeting between the government and the leaders of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), the Madhesi leaders said that they are ready to take part in the polls if the government amends the constitution in a way to address their demands.

Talking to journalist following the meeting, leader of the newly-formed Rastriya Janata Party, Laxman Lal Karna said that they will compete in the polls if the government is ready to address their demands. He, however, reiterated that the constitution should be amended in way that the Madhesi people would realize.

Likewise, CPN (Maoist Center) Barshaman Pun said that Madhesi-based parties are positive on competing in polls after government take forward the constitution amendment bill.

The Prime Minister has called the meeting of the major three parties to form a common voice after Madhesi parties turned positive on taking part in the polls.
