Nomination of candidacy begins

Kathmandu: The process of nomination of candidacy has begun in 334 local levels of 35 districts in three Provinces for the second phase of local elections scheduled for June 28.

Election Commission Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma shared that the process of filing nomination of candidacy has started in different local levels.

A total of 15,038 people representatives would be elected from a metropolis, seven sub-metropolis, 111 municipalities and 215 rural municipalities from the elections to be held in Province 1, 5 and 7.

Election materials seizer nabbed

Dang - Police have arrested Nepal Communist Party Dang district member Janak BK involved in the seizure of election materials from Shantinagar on Saturday.

A group of masked people had seized a packet of election materials containing voters' roll, awareness creating booklets, sample ballot, swastika sign and election code of conduct from voter education volunteers Bimala Khadka and Geeta Bhandari.

The group took away the election materials while the volunteers were imparting voters' education at Shantinagar rural municipality-3, Bhalaneti.

Police arrested BK with the packet of seized election materials and proceed with necessary investigation into the incident, shared District Police Chief Dhiraj Pratap Singh.

However, issuing a press release, Nepal Communist Party Dang In-charge Sabin accused the police of arresting BK while he was on the way to home after having treatment. RSS
