Pakistan U-23 beats Nepal by six wickets

Kathmandu- Opener Imam UL Haq completed his century as Pakistan defeated Nepal by six wickets in the ongoing ACC Emerging Cup in Bangladesh on Monday. Pakistan chased down the 181 runs target set by Nepal in 45.1 overs losing four wickets.

Haq top scored for Pakistan at 104 runs off 135 balls. He smashed nine fours. Imaran Butt and Hammad Azam contributed 21 and 22 runs for their team respectively.

Sandeep Lamichhane and Gyanendra Malla grabbed two wickets apiece.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal made 180 runs losing nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Sunil Dhamala was top scorer for Nepal at 43 runs.

He made the runs facing 125 balls smashing three fours. Sharad Veswakar made 38 runs facing 59 balls hitting two fours.

Binod Bhandari and Arief Sheikh contributed 24 and 18 runs respectively.

Ghulam Mudassar of Pakistan took five wickets as Sama Mir sent two Nepali batsmen back to the pavilion. Nepal will now face hosts Bangladesh on Tuesday.

Nepal has been grouped together with Pakistan, Bangladesh and Hong Kong in Group A while Group B comprises India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Four associate nations—Nepal, Afghanistan, Malaysia and Hong Kong join the U-23 teams of Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the tournament organised by the Asian Cricket Council.
