President Bhandari meets Indian PM Modi

New Delhi - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who is on a five-day state visit to India, at the Rastrapati Bhawan on Tuesday.

Earlier today, Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitely also called on President Bhandari. Indian Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari is also having a meeting with the President today.

In brief talks with media persons after receiving a guard of honour there, President Bhandari hoped that the cultural ties existing between the two countries will be strengthened more in the days ahead.

On the occasion, President Bhandari hoped for the peace and progress of Indian people. Also present on the occasion were, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi including other VIPs.

Likeiwse, President Bhandari planted a sapling at the bio-diversity park of Yamuna Gardens at Jagatpur Road of India.

The garden is spread over an area of 457 acres. The President planted a 'mahuwa' sapling in the garden.

President Bhandari was accompanied by the Nepalese delegation members and India's Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Krishna Raj, on the occasion.
