Kathmandu - The major opposition CPN-UML has expressed concern over the government's decision to defer the scheduled local level election in Province No 2.

Issuing a press release Thursday, party Secretary and Chief of the Publicity Department, Yogesh Bhattarai, said the party had reiterated its stand on holding the election on the stipulated date. So, the decision of the ruling parties to postpone the scheduled election in the southern plains (Province No. 2) was quite worrying, he added.

"The UML had doubted the government activities from the very decision of holding the local level election in the two phases. The recent development has proved that the government's attention was not focused on election but on creating uncertainty," he blamed.

According to him, the deferral of the election in Province No 2 has not only dampened people's right to elect their representatives, but caused a severe dent on constitution implementation.

The party has also called the entire rank and file to engross on the election being held in Province No 1, 5 and 7. RSS
