Kathmandu – With the counting of votes underway in the first phase of the local polls, CPN (UML) is leading in three metropolises and Nepali Congress (NC) is leading in one metropolis.
The main opposition party, UML, is leading vote count in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Bharatpur metropolitan cities, while the ruling NC is leading in Lalitpur metropolitan city.
According to the vote count updates, Bidhya Sundar Shakya of UML is leading the vote count for Kathmandu Metropolitan City with 5, 458 votes. His closest rival Rajuram Joshi of NC is at 3, 335 votes. Ranju Darshana of Bibeksheel Nepali and Kishor Thapa of Sajha Party are at 2, 201 and 1,498 votes respectively.
Likewise, Devi Gyawali of UML is leading in Bharatpur with 7,374 votes, while his closest contestant Renu Dahal of CPN (Maoist Center) has received 4,734 votes.
In Pokhara, Man Bahadur GC of UML is leading with 9,317 votes. Ramji Kunwar of NC is second with 8,931 votes.
On the other hand, Chiru Babu Maharjan of NC is leading with 10, 300 votes. His closest rival UML's mayoral candidate Hari Krishna Byanjankar has so far obtained 9,880 votes. Ramesh Maharjan of Sajha Party has got 4,821 votes.
