UML, Loktantrik Forum forge alliance in Biratnagar Metropolitan City

Biratnagar : The main opposition CPN (UML) and ruling Nepal Loktantrik Forum have forged coalition in the posts of mayor and deputy mayor in Biratnagar Metropolitan City for local level elections. 

The second phase of the local level polls is taking place on June 28. 

As per the agreement, the Forum Loktantrik will support the UML's mayoral candidate Binod Dhakal while UML will support Forum Loktantrik's candidate to the post of deputy mayor, said Loktantrik Forum's district chair Bhaktinath Majhi. 

However, Loktantrik Forum is yet to fix its candidate for the deputy mayor. According to Majhi, the coalition was only in mayoral and deputy mayor posts adding that they did not have any agreements regarding any posts in wards. RSS 

RJP not to take part in second phase of local polls

Kathmandu - The Rastriya Janata Party (RJP), Nepal has reiterated its stance to escape the second phase of the local level polls until the constitution was amended.

The party has also accused the major political parties of not being sincere to the demands of the Madhesi community.
At an interaction programme here today, member of the party presidium Rajendra Mahato said that his party would not join the second phase of the local level polls scheduled on June 28 adding that the government has not urged his party to put back the polls in Province No. 2.

"We will not take part in the polls without constitution amendment," he added. RSS
