Thini, Mustang: Snowfall is taking place since Wednesday evening in Upper Mustang.
Snowfall began in the night followed by the heavy rainfall in the evening, with the Muktichettra, Dalome and Lomantang rural municipalities affected by it. This is the first experience for many to see snowfall during mid-May, according to the local elders.
Snow as high as half a feet has accumulated and snowfall continued as of its morning, according to Amit Tulachan from Chasang. The rain and snowfall is likely to impact the ongoing works in the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road and affected public transportation linking Jomsom to Upper Mustang.
Farmers are also worried that off-season snowfall would have adverse impact on their apple farms and other crops.
Meanwhile, the Muktinath temple premise is also covered in snow. However, it will not impact preparations for the visit of the Indian Prime Minister, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police of Mustang Ramhari Pandey. The preparations have reached the final stage.
Efforts are also underway to clear public transportation along the Beni-Jomsom road that has been obstructed in various locations as a result of the rain and snowfall.RSS
