A plane crashed into the sea after it took off from Honduras, killing at least five tourists. The accident took place on 18th of May. The crash took place off Roatán island, a tourist hotspot off the Atlantic coast of Honduras, Fox News reported. The Piper PA-32-260 plane was going to the city of Trujillo, which is about 50 miles from Roatán. Many tourists from Canada, Europe, and the United States frequent the island.
Officials gave conflicting accounts of the victims’ nationalities. Armed forces spokesman Jose Domingo Meza said four of the victims were from the United States and the fifth victim’s nationality had yet to be determined. Local emergency services initially said the victims included four Canadians and another victim of unknown nationality. Authorities said they could not confirm the cause of the crash.
