The much-awaited Everest Premier League (EPL) kicked off at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Ground in Kirtipur on Monday. The opening ceremony was marked by the dance performance by Nepali actress Swostima Khadka. The crowd cheered as the actress showed her dance moves at the opening ceremony.
In the first match of the cricket tournament, Lalitpur Patriots defeated Kathmandu Kings XI by 7 at Kirtipur Cricket Ground on Monday. Indian player Jaykishan Kolsawala scored 44 runs off 48 deliveries and remained not out to guide Patriots to a comfortable first win of the tournament by seven wickets.
Skipper Gyanendra Malla joined Kolsawala as they laid the foundation for the win. Akshu Fernando picked up two wickets but it wasn’t enough for King XI. Earlier, Lalitpur Patriots won the toss and elected to bowl in the first match of the Everest Premier League 2017.
