Funeral possession for five killed in police firing held

A funeral procession was held in Saptari on Sunday for five people who were killed when police opened fire at clash between demonstrators and the law enforcement agency in the district.

Chairman of Sadhbhawana Party, Rajendra Mahato, Chairman of Nepal Sadhbhawana Party, Anil Jha, Chairman of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, Upendra Yadav and local leaders offered their last respect to the deceased.

Ranjan Mehat of Maleth-2, Birendra Mahato and Pitambar Mandal of Maleth-4, Ananda Sha of Prasawani and Inerdev Yadav of Jamuni-1 was killed after police opened fire at the protesters during a clash on Monday.

The funeral procession started from Jajendra Chowk in Rajbiraj and ended at Lahan, Siraha after passing through Deuri Bharuwa, Topa, Mansapur, Hanuman Nagar, Bhardaha, Barmajhiya, Kanchanpur, Rupani Kalyanpur and Kamdaha, according to Secretary of Rastriya Madhes Samjawadi Party, Gajendra Mandal.
