PM hopeful of political consensus to pass amendment bill

Kathmandu, April 11: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has expressed his hope that the constitution amendment bill introduced to the House after much discussions with the oppositions for creating an atmosphere conducive to hold the local-level election will be passed on a basis of political consensus.

In a meeting of the Good Governance and Monitoring Committee of the Legislature-Parliament today, the PM said this.

Urging political parties and citizens not to doubt that the local-level election would be held on the announced date, he hinted the possibility of conducting the election in two phases in some particular areas after a couple of days of a May 14 election, bearing in mind the sentiments of people.

On a different note, the head of the government said the new appointment of the Inspector General of Police made on a basis of work performance evaluation by respecting the Supreme Court's verdict would remain as a precedent of the good governance.
