Vote counting halted in Nuwakot's Panchakanya-3

Nuwakot - Vote counting has been suspended for Panchakanya Rural Municipality -3 in Nuwakot district after 18 more ballot papers than the total number of people who voted under the local-level election there were found in the ballot box.
According to returning officer Durga Prasad Chalise, 18 excess ballot papers were found inside the ballot box from the Devakidharam Lower Secondary School polling booth at Panchakanya Rural Municipality -3 as against the 1,535 voters who cast their ballot.

Chalise said following this discovery there was disagreement among the local political parties which led to the suspension of vote counting. The CPN (UML)'s local committee rooted for counting the excess votes as well arguing that they were valid whereas the other parties have rejected this. RSS
